Zoning for Cudahy Wal-Mart approved 4-3

[Correction: The vote was 4-2. we regret the error.]

Word from tonight’s City of Cudahy Plan Commission meeting is that the zoning for a big box retail store (e.g. Wal-Mart) in Cudahy has been was approved by a 4-3 vote. Our fly on the wall reports that some parking spaces were spread out to avoid it being a “sea of asphalt” (quoth Mr. Fly) and “a triangle of green space with a historical marker” was added. The sprawling store would be on a 26-acre [31-acre?] tract of land south of E. Layton Ave., between S. Nicholson Ave. and Sweet Applewood Lane.

The development is now contingent upon approval by the Cudahy Common Council.
