Humboldt Park wading pool temporarily closed

Update, June 25: Walking by the pool last night, we saw that the pool’s hours have been changed. It’s now open from 10-2PM.

My daughter was all ready to spend an afternoon swimming and splashing in the wading pool at Humboldt Park. You can imagine her disappointment when we learned that the wading pool is closed, albeit temporarily.

Apparently one of the pool managers was trying to do some normal cleaning operation with the water pump, but it went awry, causing the engine to fry. An electrician was called in to look at it, but he said the engine was dead and could not be brought back to life. They hope to have a new one in place on Monday.

We are fortunate that Milwaukee has lots of other pools that are open to the public. It’s disappointing that this one is closed, even for a while, but tomorrow we will check out Pelican Cove.
