Is McCain suffering from até?

The ancient Greeks used the term até to describe the blindness that the gods put over you in the moment before you are about to be killed. The McCain campaign seems to have been afflicted with a blind venom lately, striking out on multiple levels, thrashing about in their effort to try and win at any cost. But so far it has only raised Barack Obama’s poll numbers and lowered McCain’s.
