People lining up to vote early in Milwaukee

A friend sent along this picture of the line outside Zeidler Hall in downtown Milwaukee. I think it’s great that we’ve got early voting so that we can keep the lines moving next Tuesday. Click the picture for a bigger version of it, in which you can actually see the people in line.

  1. I’ve heard of voters – particularly black voters – being refused access to vote for all sorts of reasons, but who protects the already cast early votes from strangely becoming “lost”?

  2. What “looses” the ones cast at the polling place on the “official” election day? At least in Wisconsin, I believe it’s on the local government to ensure the collection and safekeeping of ballots.
