Still more newspaper consolidation in Madison

I can remember when the state capitol of Madison once had two daily newspapers. For that matter, I was in Milwaukee when it had two daily newspapers. But as events progressed, Milwaukee and then Madison lost their dual dailies, which shrunk to just one.

The Capital Times, Madison’s “liberal” paper, has long been shrinking. It’s apparently now gone entirely online, though the Cap Times web site still says they do a weekly insert in the Wisconsin State Journal. The other “about” page mentions none of this.

PartiallyBlue and James Rowen also mentioned this, and probably otherss I haven’t found yet.

And let me say for the record: media consolidation is bad, mmkay?

I am a resident of the Bay View neighborhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. That sometimes comes up on here, as it's kind of a small part of my life. No official county business happens here. I'm mostly using this now to give a rough draft account of how we're dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. God help us all.
