Multiplicity of Government in Milwaukee: Intro

For better or for worse, we do have a fair number of government bodies within Milwaukee County alone. For some time now I’ve been pondering how merging various government entities could positively impact the property tax base within the affected governments within Milwaukee County. While the man who stands up and shouts “SMALL GOVERNMENT” at the top of his lungs will always get media coverage despite the fact that neither he nor the public understands how actually shrinking government would impact society, I feel it may be past time to have an objective and truly non-partisan examination of if and how government bodies within Milwaukee County should be consolidated. I will do my best to give it an essentially objective look, while stating that I am a forward-left leaning guy who serves on the board of a group called Milwaukee County First.

In the interest of time and thoroughness, I will make this an ongoing series. Look for the first part, Ethics and Elections Boards in Milwaukee later this week.
