Conservative split in the process of occurring?

I’ve been wondering what the effects of the synthetic Tea Party movement would be. Is the resurgence of the Conservative Party and Palin’s endorsement of its congressional candidate in New York one aspect of this?

Also: According to Talking Points Memo, “The latest [GOPer to back the Conservative Party candidate over the Republican candidate] is Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-KS), who says “the New York 23 election reflects the same battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party going on nationally.”

Discuss amongst yourselves.
