Whoda thunk it? Jay Bullock for Congress!

Wow! Months of being uninvolved in the local political scene causes this to catch me by surprise. Milwaukee’s darn best English teacher and folk musician Jay Bullock has started an insurgent campaign for Congress against what his campaign blog calls “Janesville’s earsiest Randian, Paul Ryan…” I’m trying to get on board with this groundswell Coffee Party sort-of movement, and I can barely get through to the blog. And you know that now that I’m unemployed again yet still have access to huge cash reserves, I’d like to make a contribution. But look at what happens when I try to make a contribution:

502 Service Temporarily Overloaded
Server congestion; too many connections; high traffic. Keep trying until the page loads.

That’s amazing. And a testament to crappy web hosting.

(Funny, Jay’s guitar doesn’t seem to be filling up. May I recommend using the guitar case instead?)

Hmm, and why only $4,110? I think it’ll take a little more to beat the G.O.P.’s godson, Paul Ryan.

(No, wait, I think it’s started to work. The guitar’s being filled in!)

Either way, here’s his official announcement. I hope he does better than my 2008 run walk for county board. That wasn’t a joke—though in the middle, I sure campaigned like it.

And how’s this for a potential slogan? “Jay Bullock. Just plain folk.”

Think about it.

Update: So it turns out he’s a friggin’ Canuck. Whoda thunk it? And with that, he dropped out of the race. I hope he enjoyed this witty April Fool’s prank—I guess he won’t need these laminated campaign brochures that I had printed up. (*Elitist snif *) Jerk.
