Zach W. over at Blogging Blue has a fantastic post that succinctly summarizes what this primary is all about. Plale represents the interests of the coal, cable, and telecommunication giants, not the people of Cudahy, St. Francis, or South Milwaukee.
Plale’s telecom deregulation bill opened the way for AT&T to raise rates on its customers.
Then Plale helped kill the clean energy bill in the state legislature in 2010.
In effect, he co-sponsored it before he killed it. According to Zach:
Contributions made to Sen. Plale from individuals associated with the cable TV industry and the power & energy industry represent nearly twenty percent of all the contributions Sen. Plale received from individuals.”
Zach also notes that our friends at WMC also help Plale:
It’s also worth noting Sen. Plale received two $250 campaign contributions from the President and Vice President of Government Relations for Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, which is notable for its right-wing leanings, as well as having financed and run some of the most misleading ads ever seen in a statewide election.
This is what the primary challenge is about. Chris Larson is an effective leader who has not sold his soul to big industry. This is why we will vote for Chris on September 14.
