Tom Nelson won’t be joining us tonight; he hit a deer!

Tom Nelson just called me to say he had “bad news and bad news.” The first bad news: he won’t be at Drinking Liberally tonight. The second bad news: he hit a deer! He’s okay, and no one (people, anyway) was hurt.

Tom was going to drive all the way from Superior to Milwaukee — a six hour drive. I think that’s a pretty good testament to his devotion. Tom expressed his deep regret at not being able to come down to Milwaukee, but I think he’s got a pretty darn good reason.

Tom Nelson is a candidate for lieutenant governor in the 2010 Wisconsin election cycle. While we can’t endorse anyone, I think we’ll have a round in his (or the deer’s) honor tonight. I wonder, do they have any  twelve-buck pints at Sugar Maple?
